Subject: Underwriter Laboratories requirements for maintaining UL Listing
         of data processing equipment.

Jerry Hulsey of NBI (product safety engineer) and I reviewed ISI's entire
product line and manufacturing process last Friday and Saturday (9/27 and
9/28). The result of our meeting revealed that ISI would have to make changes
to its manufacturing process. Changes are required to maintain UL tracability
of components and subassemblies used in the manufacture of our systems.

Purchasing and Material Handling departments will be affected the most. Major
changes are as follows:
.br
1) Components such as plastic connectors(including ring lugs and forked lugs),
terminal blocks, ribbon cable, tie wraps, etc. must be shipped in their original container bearing the UL Recognized label.
.br
2) Wire used in wire harnesses built in-house must bear a UL Recognized and a
CSA Certified sticker. The stickers must appear on EACH spool of wire stocked
by ISI.
.br
3) Harnesses built by outside vendors must be packaged in plastic bags. Each
bag must contain a letter from the vendor stating that all materials used to
construct the enclosed harnesses are UL Recognized and CSA Certified. The
letter must be signed and dated. The letter must remain in the bag until the
last harness is used and then filed for reference.
.br
4) Q-Bus card cages purchased on an OEM basis by ISI must be certified by the
OEM vendor to be constructed from UL Recognized materials. This is accompolished by requiring the vendor to send us a letter, with each shippment, stating
useage of UL Recognized materials.
.br
5) All PCB's purchased by ISI must be fabricated by a UL Recognized vendor.
The vendor's company name or trademark and type designation must be stamped
on the PCB (Sigma Circuits and Zyng are UL Recognized vendors).
.br
6) All systems built by ISI must subjected to a Dielectric Voltage-Withstand
Test (Hi-Pot test) and a Ground Continuity Test.

We are close to being able to submit an Optimum 5/10 and a V8 to UL for testing. However, our documentation of the 5/10 and V8 needs work and the above list mustbe implemented to retain UL Listing of our systems once we obtain it. Note: UL
performs un-announced checks on manufacturing sites which construct UL Listed
equipment.
