Subject: Continued testing of the Optimum 5/10 at NBI Product Test.

In talking with Mike Brown at NBI headquarters on 10/21/85, the following
information was conveyed:

1) The Optimum 5/10 failed the injected line noise test at 1400 volts.
Their specification calls for 1500 volts.

2) Because of the failure in (1) more changes will have to be made. The
changes will have to be retested.

3) Mike Brown requested we submit a formal request for resources so that
a block of their time will be allocated to ISI.

4) While I was at NBI, I was forced to disassemble one of their Optimum
5/10's to reconfigure our prototype system to a maximum configuration.
Product Test programs are being impacted because their machine is inoperable.
We need to ship the following cards for use in our prototype system: 2-one
MB DRAM cards, 1-Ethernet card, 1-DH Controller, 1-LP Controller, 2-140MB
5 1/4" Maxtor hard disk drives formated with UNIX 4.2.

5) We need to send 2-2MB VME DRAM cards to configure our prototype V8 for
maximum configuration. Mike Brown also needs all documentation pertaining
to the Optimum V8 (hardware reference manuals, system configuration guide,
etc.).

Taking into account the time required for a product test cycle, I would
estimate approximately 40 hours would be required of the NBI Product Test
Department to modify and verify compliance of the 5/10 system.
